外观形态
绒毛山茉莉（Huodendron tomentosum Y. C. Tang ex S. M. Hwang in Acta Phytotax. sin. 18 (2): 165. t. 4. 1980. ），乔木，高达20米，胸径约26厘米；树皮灰褐色，干时棕红色，光滑；冬芽卵状披针形，密被浅棕色绒毛。
绒毛山茉莉叶互生，近革质，长圆形、长圆状披针形或倒卵状长圆形，长5-9.5厘米，宽1.5-3.5厘米，顶端渐尖或钝渐尖，基部楔形，边全缘，干时稍背卷，上面光滑无毛，下面密被灰色绒毛，侧脉每边7-9条，中脉上面凹入，下面凸起，网脉纤细而密，明显；叶柄长1.5-2厘米，密被灰色绒毛，上面具沟槽。
花序特征
绒毛山茉莉圆锥花序生于小枝顶端，长4-8厘米，宽3-5厘米，密被灰色绒毛；花淡黄色，长约7毫米；花梗长5-8毫米；小苞片钻形，长约2毫米，早落；花萼杯状，高约2毫米，萼齿5，卵状三角形，较萼管短，密被黄色星状绒毛；花瓣长圆形，长约6毫米，宽约2毫米，顶端短尖，花蕾时作覆瓦状排列，花后反卷，两面均密被淡黄色细绒毛。
绒毛山茉莉雄蕊10枚，花丝扁平，下部被长柔毛，花药披针形，长约3毫米，药隔宽扁，顶端3裂，中间的裂片较两侧的为短；花柱长约6毫米，被柔毛，顶端浅3裂，子房卵形，4室，每室有胚珠多颗，被长柔毛。花期5-7月。
生境分布
绒毛山茉莉产于中国的云南省西南部。生于海拔1900米林中。绒毛山茉莉模式标本采自云南省瑞丽附近。
